Yes, most federal government agencies in the U.S. only have one or two short tech interviews since they thoroughly review your resume.

In contrast, Amazon currently has 5 tech interviews, Googles has 4, and Facebook and Nvidia have 3. This usually includes one or more silly online hacker quizzes. One author discuss being lured into more than a dozen interviews (probably Amazon) and never be hired. FAANG and other companies seem to think engineers want to work there so much they are willing to put up with all the nonsense. Actually, they are just passing over well-qualified applicants like myself (including those who are neurodiverse which have historically been the most creative software engineers). This is ironic given that many of the FAANG companies pioneered the “hire fast and fire faster” approach for decades.

Since 85-90% of AI projects fail, credentials are really more important than interview skills or even experience.
